There is a free version but after that the yearly cost is $149.85 a year. I did not see anywhere where it
was saying free for teachers right now. I created an account and started one of the logic courses. They
pose questions and you have to solve them. In each question there is a show explanation tab. This could
be helpful when students get stuck. However I do worry they would just click it and not try the problem.
One nice thing about the explanations is that it gives it in steps, so students could just look at the first
step to get them started.

Two things I found were a section on learning visual proofs of algebraic identities and learning proofs of
geometric identities. I think these would be good to support math learning in this online format because
of the visual aspect of it. Students understand proofs better when they can see the steps and the reasons
behind the various aspects.

There are also sections on logic and problem solving. Often students just want the steps or rules or
formulas in math so they can memorize them. However, it is more than simply memorizing things. The
logic puzzles give students a chance to think and try different ways to solve them. I think this is a skill
that students of all ages need.

This site would also be great for my STEM students. There are sections on coding with Python and
working with simple machines. These are fun ways to learn and are interactive. They allow students to
make mistakes and try again. That is important. Students need to know it is okay to make mistakes.

Integrating new technology into our classes in this online format is a challenge in and of itself. For this
site, the problems seem to be set up so students do not need teacher help. My worry is that students
would use the explanations to just finish the problems. I also did not find anywhere to set up a class so
I could assign various topics to my students. I would see suggesting this to my students but I have no
way to track it as the teacher.

The first thing students do is take a placement test. The site then puts together lesson plans for the teacher to use.
One thing I found interesting was they are set up on the gradual release model, “I do, we do, you do” which is the
structure of my school’s framework for teaching. For the I do and we do, all students do the same examples and
problems. Then for the you do, the work is more individualized based on the students placement test. Then
teachers have the chance to see how students did and provide interventions through the program. The teacher
can set up Zoom or Google Hangouts to teach the lessons or

I think this is a great option right now. I am finding that many of my students are sleeping like it is summer! They
may “miss” my class if I set a certain time. Also learning from home some of them are the “parent” during the day
and may get distracted by younger siblings. The asynchronous option would give students more freedom.

I think this supports effective teaching and learning because it is adaptive to the students. Students are given
targeted practice and then more if needed. For the teachers, we are given lesson plans and practice examples to
use with our whole class. Then the students work in partners to get more practice and help before moving onto
individual work.

I signed up for an account but it will not let me create a course. I am not sure what is wrong, it will not let me pick a
district in the United States. This is frustrating. It then asked me to go through my school’s Clever account but my
school has not set this up for us. We do not use it at my school though it is used in the district. I see this as a
challenge for using it. I was really excited because it uses the gradual release that my school uses.

I think it would be hard to teach students a new platform at this time. My high school students may be okay but I
wonder for younger students how challenging this would be.

This is a site that my school has suggested to us. One of the other math teachers and are uploading our paper
“homework” and then you can add buttons for students to put in their answers. The site has you put in correct
answers and after the students submit they know if they got it right or not. One issue I have found so far, students
had the correct answer for example 187.4 but since they put 187.4 ft they were marked wrong. We just used it for
the first time Friday. I am going to send out a discussion board to my students to see what they think about it. I am
not sure what it shows them on their side. I am hoping those students saw that their number was correct; they were
just “wrong” because of formatting. This is a struggle I will work through. When they respond I will update you all!

This can be used for any class! They have pre-made assignments you can use or you can create your own from
scratch! I love that I can upload what I already have created. Then as teachers we can track who is doing the
assignments and what they are getting correct or incorrect. I know that if everyone gets #5 wrong, then I need to
look at that one and see why. I also know that I need to revisit that in some way. This is something I will probably
keep using even once we are back in school.

My high school students were able to sign up and do the first assignment with no extra support from me other than
sending them the website and the class code! I love that. I do not know how younger students were do without help
from either the teacher or a parent.
