B5- Online Instructions ( Kim Good)


Since I work with Exceptional Students here are a few programs the EC team shared with students in my district due to Coronavirus. We also informed the parents about FREE  broadband and Wi-Fi internet access for 60 days through a local TV provider. 


ADAPTED CURRICULUM RESOURCES FOR PARENTS

1. Site: Scholastic Learn at Home

What it offers:

  •  Daily stories about grade-level topics, will read aloud to you
  • Students can watch the story and watch videos about grade-level topics
  • Activity is also offered to go with daily stories


2. Site: Cosmic Kids Yoga 
Grade/Levels: Any grade, supports calming &
behavior strategies keep kids active and focused

  •  Easy to follow, engaging yoga videos
  • Variety of topics and themes to choose from, including Minecraft
3. Site: Fluency & Fitness 
Grade/Levels: K-2 Reading and Math Topics,
but great movement activities for all ages

What it offers:
  •  21 days of free, unlimited access
  •  Videos students can watch, copy & participate by movement- select “Exercises Only” videos
  • You can also select videos that put movement to skills (ex: recalling sight words)

4. Site: Typing Club Level:
Grade/Levels: For our older students ready to learn typing skills

What it offers:
  • Video modeling to help your student learn to type
  • Very simplistic display
The challenges of technology integration in online instruction are lack of hardware and support to use them. In the last couple of days in my district the teachers having a hard time logging into Canvas. Online instructions could be difficult whenever the server being used by so many people on one network.
